Interior Updates

You have most likely seen the before pictures of the Farmhouse when we first moved in HERE...

The previous owners were into the yellow/peach/warm color palette. Which is funny because our old home also had yellows and some greens when we first lived there! Well the colors inside do not match my taste so we have been doing lots of painting!! And really TJ has because I do not like painting. at all.

In our old home we painted all the interior minus the bedrooms and bathrooms. We painted them Sherwin Williams Repose Gray color using Glidden Diamond paint from Home Depot. I LOVED the color in our old home so I knew right away I wanted to paint a majority of the living and entry way areas in the farmhouse repose gray. And at first I did not like it in the farmhouse. It looked bluish to me and not at all like the old house. So we decided to paint the off white trim a bright white and it made all the difference!! Here are pictures of our living/family room and dining room painted in repose gray with a bright white trim!

Now, the master was a colorful peach and so was the master closet. Not my style. We decided on Sherwin Williams Silver Mist color also using Glidden Diamond paint from Home Depot! It is a beautiful blue/green, very calming! We also painted the trim a bright white and also painted the master closet white.  We just used a semi-gloss pure white paint for the closet because we had it left over from the old house and it being the closet, didn't care too much.

Thats the painting updates for now. But every wall and all the trim pretty much needs paint so there will be lots more to come! I know I am a bad photographer... The pictures are i-phone 5 quality and unedited! :) I will work on it.

Slowly BUT Surely...

This week I so badly wish I could snap my fingers and that all of a sudden everything would be put in place and put away! However, that not being possible the farmhouse remains a disaster and I can barely find the things I need. sigh. 

I have been reminding myself multiple times a day, "A little bit each day". Patience and soon enough it will start to all come together! Thankfully there were no major updates or projects that needed to be done right away. It really has just been cosmetic such as painting to make the inside more our style! Before I show you what we have done, I will show you all the before pictures of the house before we moved in!!

Here are some details of the house: it was originally built in 1910! Its 2400 square feet on 2 acres. There are a few "original" parts of the house that I LOVE! I am a sucker for old historic character and clearly why I have dreamed of owning an old farmhouse. There are original hardwoods on the stairs and upstairs landing. The banister is original. There is only one original window but it is beautiful! A majority of the doors are original. I am not sure about the columns in the family room but I think they are too? And word has it from the previous owners that the original rooms all have shiplap hiding!!!! EEK! My list of projects for my husband to get done is rapidly growing :)

We Bought a Farmhouse!

We are moving! After years of casually looking for a farmhouse on acreage, we have finally found one that we have fallen in love with.  We will be leaving our Snohomish County roots and moving north to the gorgeous Skagit Valley.


My husband TJ and I have always dreamed of having acreage with views. We have looked nearly every day since we got married for a farmhouse on some property. We had always envisioned our “forever home” to be in Snohomish where we were both born and raised. But Snohomish has become quite competitive and pricey and we had to accept that it is not quite the same small quiet town we were raised up in. However, Snohomish, will always be “home” to us!

Well we are very excited to experience and live in a new community up in the beautiful country! Skagit Valley is home to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival every spring and fields everywhere are booming with bright colors. Also, the farmhouse is only about three minutes away from Snow Goose Produce which has the very best and biggest ice cream cones ever!

If any of you know TJ and I, we like to be busy, adventurous, and take on too much at the same time! Well we put an offer on the farmhouse, cleaned our entire home to get ready to sale, left the country to Thailand, and sold our home all within a week! Because why not decide to buy a house and sell your home the same week you have a vacation planned half way across the world?!
